WWE SmackDown Results: 5/29/03
   By: RingInsider.com on May 30, 2003
Smackdown for May 29th began with a recap of the recent happening between Vince McMahon and Mr. America. Tonight, Mr. America will take a lie detector test, and if it is proven that he is Hulk Hogan, then he will be fired, and Zach Gowen will never be allowed to wrestle.

Sable came to the ring to act as guest ring announcer for the first match. She asked the crowd what Smackdown would be without her, and said hi to Tazz, who she doused with water last week because he declared Torrie Wilson the winner of the bikini contest at the last PPV. Sable introduced Torrie Wilson as being from "Loserville" and said she weighed way too much. Sable ragged on Nidia's ring attire as well.

We saw that Zach Gowen was in the crowd.

Nidia, with Jamie Noble, defeated Torrie Wilson in 3:20. Noble was yelling at Tazz for some reason. Nidia worked over Torrie's leg for most of the match. They did a catfight spot and rolled over the referee near the end. Noble got on the apron and shoved Torrie, and when she turned to face him, Nidia rolled her up and pulled the tights for the win. After the match, Tazz rammed Noble headfirst into the ring apron, knocking him out. Nidia grabbed Tazz, from behind, but he broke free. Torrie pulled off Nidia's shorts, revealing her large underwear. Sable threw a pitcher of water at Tazz. Torrie tried to throw a bottle of water at Sable as she left.

Vince McMahon arrived in a limo. They were parked in a handicap spot, but McMahon insisted they stay there, because he wouldn't be long.

The lie detector operators were testing the machine with Stephanie McMahon in the back. She refused to answer whether she cheats on her taxes or not.

They showed how Team Angle lost to Eddie Guerrero & Yoshihiro Tajiri last week when Guerrero set Charlie Haas up to look like a cheater. Backstage, Team Angle motivated themselves for their rematch, pointing out that Kurt Angle will be back next week. Eddie & Tajiri were also getting ready, with Tajiri saying they were not walking to the ring, and produced a pair of car keys. When asked where he got them from, Tajiri said "We lie, we cheat, we steal".

An ad for the Rey Mysterio "619" DVD aired.

WWE Tag Team Champions Eddie Guerrero & Yoshihiro Tajiri defeated Team Angle (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin) by DQ in 16:10 (including a commercial break). Guerrero and Tajiri drove to the ring in a low rider truck. Team Angle attacked before the bell. Another great match with these two teams. Team Angle worked on Tajiri's legs for a long period, keeping him from tagging out. Towards the end, Guerrero hit a frog splash on Haas for a two count, but Benjamin broke it up. Benjamin hit Guerrero with a superkick so Haas could cover, but Tajiri broke that up. Guerrero hit a double DDT on Team Angle to make a hot tag to Tajiri. Haas blocked a tornado DDT to give Tajiri a Northern Lights suplex, but Guerrero broke it up. Guerrero backdropped Benjamin from the ring. Tajiri superkicked Haas. Guerrero hit a top rope bodypress to the floor on Benjamin. Tajiri missed a roundhouse kick on Haas, and Haas applied the Haas Of Pain. The bell rang, but Tajiri hadn't submitted. Guerrero had rang the bell. While the referee discussed this with the timekeeper, Guerrero got into the ring with one of the title belts. He and Haas had a tug of war over the belt, which Haas won, falling to the mat with the title. Guerrero then dropped to the mat, and when the referee turned around, he saw Haas with the belt, and assumed he had hit Guerrero with it, so he disqualified Team Angle.

Mr. America was shown in the back, worried about the test. Zach Gowen was interviewed by Josh Matthews. Zach said that since he doesn't have a contract, he went and brought a ticket. Zach said he was nervous about the test, but it was out of his hands.

Vince McMahon came to the ring, acting very happy and convinced he was going to prove that Mr. America was Hulk Hogan. McMahon saw Gowen in the crowd and made the rather tasteless comment that neither he or Hogan would "have a leg to stand on" after tonight. Mr. America came down and took the test. He answered some simple questions, but when he was asked whether he was Hulk Hogan or not, Mr. America said no, and the lie detector said he was speaking the truth. This enraged McMahon, who then strapped himself into the machine to prove it was broken. America started asking Vince questions like whether he was an "a******" or not, and whether he pleasures himself to Torrie's Playboy, and Vince kept getting caught lying by the machine. McMahon finally got off the machine and got in the face of Mr. America. Mr. America said Vince was a liar. Vince took a swing at America, but he blocked it and decked McMahon.

Vince stormed into Stephanie's office, enraged about the lie detector test. Vince blamed Stephanie for the test, and for hiring Mr. America. She gave Vince some attitude over it, and Vince said that things would "change for the better" next week.

Sean O'Haire, with Rowdy Roddy Piper, defeated Chris Benoit in 4:06. Towards the end, Piper tried to interfere, and Benoit put him in the crossface. However this allowed O'Haire to hit a running kick to the back of Benoit's head. O'Haire then held the tights for the pin.

They announced that Rey Mysterio would get his Cruiserweight Title match with Matt Hardy next week on Smackdown. Rey was then interviewed, and he talked about his injured groin from last week, and how next week in his hometown of Anaheim, he would win the title. Matt Hardy interrupted, saying he beat Rey at Wrestlemania, and that he would destroy him next week. Matt kicked Rey in the groin, and left him laying.

A vignette on Kurt Angle aired. He returns to Smackdown next week.

They aired a "Coming Soon" video package for Ultimo Dragon, using clips from his time in WCW.

Doug & Danny Basham defeated Spanky & Rikishi in 2:59. They didn't give a lot of background on the Basham brothers, other than to say that Stephanie McMahon signed them. Towards the end, Rikishi gave both men a stinkface in the corner, and tagged in Spanky. Spanky went for a monkeyflip on Doug, but he blocked it and slammed Spanky to the mat. He put his feet on the ropes for leverage, and Danny pushed down on Doug with his foot to add even more leverage to the pin.

We saw Vince McMahon's limo getting towed away for parking in a handicap zone. McMahon told his driver to tell the tow truck to take him to the airport, and got in the towed limo. Zach Gowen tapped on the window, and when Vince opened it, Gowen informed him that parking in a handicap zone is illegal. Vince said he was going to beat up Zach, but the tow truck started pulling the limo away, as Zach waved goodbye to him.

The Big Show, Johnny Stamboli & Chuck Palumbo defeated The Undertaker & Brock Lesnar in 10:39. Before the match, Nunzio said he couldn't wrestle due to being hurt by the Undertaker, and introduced The Big Show as his replacement. Brock and Big Show had a staredown, but Palumbo shoved the Undertaker, and Taker started slugging him to start the match. Towards the end, Taker had Show in a dragon sleeper, but Nunzio broke it up with a chairshot. Taker chokeslammed Nunzio, but Palumbo kicked him and knocked him from the ring. Lesnar hit Palumbo with an F5, then gave one to Stamboli. Show posted Undertaker outside the ring. Big Show got into the ring behind Brock, and grabbed him with a chokeslam for the clean pin to win the match and to end the show.
