Heat Report for 10/24/2004
Results by John Keane

Matches taped on 10/18 in Chicago, Illinois.

Your Announcers are Jonathan Coachman and Todd Grisham.

Pyros go, Coach and Todd welcome us in, we go to work...

1st Match: Rosey vs. Steven Richards. Referee is Chris Kay.

OK pop for Rosey, decent heat for Steven. Bell rings, circling into the lockup, Steven slaps on a side headlock, Rosey easily slips free, Steven gets shot off the ropes and flattened via clothesline as he rebounds. Steven retreats to a corner, back to circling, Steven tries for an arm wringer, Rosey reverses, Steven drops to his knees. Somersault reversal by Steven, Rosey follows suit and clips the leg, Steven again takes time to regroup in a corner. Steven decides to get cagey, kick to the gut precedes one to the lower leg, Rosey backs into a corner, Steven connects with a chop, corner splash follows-Rosey appears totally unfazed as Steven takes a break to celebrate. Steven goes down to a shoulder charge, Rosey follows up with a butt-splash, Steven backs to ropes before laying in an ineffectual (and sissy looking) series of shoves. REAL shove from Rosey sends our hero down on his butt, Rosey hauls him up for a pair of forearms to the face, powerslam follows, Steven manages to roll clear of the legdrop, Rosey to canvas. Steven tries to work the leg with kicks, Rosey shoves him away, low dropkick works much better, Steven drops a series of knees to the leg, legbar (as described by Todd) is applied, Rosey uses straight punches to free himself. Steven attempts to go back to the leg, Rosey kicks him to a corner, Steven blindly charges into a trio of clotheslines, Rosey follows up with a back body drop, Steven hauls himself up in a corner. Rosey charges into a boot to the face, he's staggered, Steven goes up top, flying cross body has zero effect, Rosey simply slams him to the canvas. Legdrop off the 2nd turnbuckle gets the easy 1-2-3.

Winner: Rosey.

Later tonight: Rob Conway vs. Maven. Break.

WWE Rewind: From the Raw of 2 weeks past, Batista lays a beatdown on Living Legend (and until last Tuesday Intercontinental Champion) Chris Jericho.

Raw recap. Last Monday Ric Flair & Batista defeated Y2J & Randy Orton.

We get still photos from last week's Taboo Tuesday PPV. After being defeated by Orton in a bloody steel cage match, the Nature Boy raised Randy's arm in a show of respect.

More stills from TabTues: Shelton Benjamin was the cat to defeat Chris J. for the IC title. Break.

Back, more from Tab Tues; Kane was 'seriously injured' while facing Gene Snitsky in a no-DQ match.

We return to business...

2nd Match: Rodney Mack, wih Jazz, vs. Mike Mondo. Referee is Jack Doan.

Mike already in the ring, mild heat for Rodney. Bell rings, Rodney talks trash to start, Mike gets shoved to a corner. We go to the lockup, back to his corner goes the luckless Mr. Mondo, ref calls for the break, Rodney backs off after a shot to the neck. I'm smelling squash here. More circling, Rodney cinches in a side headlock, Mike slips free, Rodney gets shot to ropes, Mike goes down to a shoulder charge. Yet more circling, another side headlock by Rodney, Mike slips free, Rodney goes off ropes, Mike gets nowhere with a hiptoss attempt, same by Rodney works just fine, as Mike drops he manages to score with an armdrag. Both men up, Rodney appears to be in shock, he goes for the blind charge clothesline, Mike counters with another armdrag into an armbar. Rodney easily gets to his feet and escapes with a pair of forearms to the face, in desperation Mike lays in kicks to the gut and forearms to the chest, Rodney to ropes, Mike sets for the whip, Rodney puts on the brakes, Mike takes a knee to the gut before being tossed to the outside. Jazz gets in a pair of cheap shots as the ref is distracted, Rodney rolls Mike in and covers for 2. Rodney goes for the mounted punches, ref calls for the break, Mike gets propped up in a corner for more pummeling, Rodney sends him shoulder first into a ring post, then works the arm at ringside. Mike manages to weakly kick out of a cover attempt, Rodney's REAL pissed now, Mike gets effortlessly slammed to the canvas, he again somehow kicks out. Rodney cinches in an armbar, Mike escapes via forearms to the chest but quickly drops to his knees after a hard shot to the back. Rodney hauls him to ropes, Mike gets whipped to opposite, Rodney whiffs on a clothesline as he rebounds, Mike scores with a shoulder, Rodney to ropes, still on his feet. Mike scores with a dropkick and follows up with boots to the lower legs, he goes off ropes, bulldog finally takes Rodney down for 2. Up, Mike goes off ropes RIGHT into a powerslam, that should about do it. Yep, Rodney signals for the end, DDT gets all 3.

Winner: Rodney Mack.

Maven vs. Conway gets a word of hype before we break.

Back, we get footage from the press conference held to hype next month's Survivor Series PPV. Show will feature both Raw and Smackdown talent. Footage shot during the Raw crew's tour of Europe follows. Break.

Slam of the Week: From 2 weeks ago, Edge, Shawn Michaels & Chris Benoit defeat HHH, Ric Flair & Batista.

Raw recap. Last Monday Edge, HBK and the Crippler (the three men with possible shots at HHH's World Championship the following night) competed in a Triple Threat match. Early on Shawn appeared to have injured his knee. End saw Edge getting the win with a rollup of Benoit while tugging the tights with one hand and holding the ropes with the other. Post-match HBK had to be helped to the back.

More stills from TabTues. Shawn ended up getting the nod to face Hunter, but ended up coming up short when Edge interfered as Batista distracted the ref. HHH retains the World Championship, and Shawn will soon be having knee surgery. Break.

Main Event...

3rd match: Rob Conway, with Sylvan Grenier, vs. Maven. Referee is Chad Patton.

Good heat for La Res, which turns into BIG heat when Syl begins his butchering of 'O Canada'. Maven's entrance (and interruption) gets a nice pop. Bell rings, extended bit of circling to start, wristlocks are exchanged, Rob scores with a kneelift, Maven gets slammed to the canvas. Rob talks trash, Maven fires off a slap that sends him backing into a corner. Another lockup, Rob goes behind and slaps on a hammerlock, forearms to the back are added for emphasis, Maven goes off ropes, Rob goes down to a forearm to the face as he rebounds. He rolls to a corner, Maven approaches, Rob fends him off with a forearm to the face before wringing the arm. Maven frees himself with forearm shots and cinches in a side headlock, Rob walks him to ropes and slips free, Maven gets shot to ropes, Rob goes down to a shoulder charge as he rebounds, Maven covers for 2. Up, snapmare gets Maven a pair of 2 counts. Headlock is maintained, Rob gets to his feet and walks Maven to the ropes, he goes off opposite, Rob goes down to another shoulder as he rebounds. Up, Rob goes down to a clothesline, Maven goes off ropes and leaps over him, Rob gets to his feet and goes for the toss to the outside, Maven barely manages to land on his feet on the apron. Rob goes for the charge, Maven blocks with a shoulder to the gut, Sylvan tries to drag him to ringside but gets booted away, second charge by Rob connects, Maven is sent hard into the restraining wall. Sylvan lays in the boots as the ref is busy with Rob, Maven gets rolled back in, Rob covers for 2. Maven takes a series of mounted punches, ref insists on a break, Maven rolls to corner. Rob fires off forearms to the face, Maven gets whipped to opposite corner, Rob charges, Maven gets the boot up, Rob sidesteps but takes a forearm to the face. Maven charges into a clothesline, Rob covers for 2. Maven gets put in a neck-vice for an EXTENDED period, crowd wills him to his feet, Rob goes down to a back suplex. Forearms are exchanged in the center of the ring, Rob drops, Maven hauls him up, Rob reverses a whip attempt but goes down to a pair of forearms to the neck as Maven rebounds. Up, Maven gets knockdowns with a pair of dropkicks, Rob down for 2. Maven hauls him up, Rob gets whipped off the ropes into a back body drop, he's down, Maven attempts to go off the ropes, Sylvan's (rather lame looking) attempt to trip him up merely pisses him off, as he waves his flag Maven grabs it away and takes a swing at Rob, who retreats to a corner. Ref grabs the flag and passes it to a ringside attendant-meanwhile sneaky ol' Syl enters the ring to help his partner, Maven goes down to the Au Revoir. Syl rolls out as Rob covers, ref notices, 1-2-3.

Winner: Rob Conway.

Quick bit of hype for Tomorrow night's Raw ends the show.

Short form match results (all victories by pinfall):

1. Rosey defeated Steven Richards.

2. Rodney Mack defeated Mike Mondo.

3. Rob Conway defeated Maven.
