News on Kurt Angle's return, WWE and HBO, SmackDown, and more
By: Liz Sanders on May 30, 2003
Just to follow up on an earlier item, the 6/24 Madison Square Garden show was always scheduled to be a Smackdown taping. WWE has a huge advertising budget for the two shows in the New York area, which led to huge sales for the Raw event on 6/23. There are still tickets available for the 6/23 show, but they are in the 300 level of the building, which is up near the top level. It's not sold out yet though. Also, WWE is aware of HBO's story about deaths in wrestling and has a response ready for it. I am not sure what it is at this time. WWE has been going back and forth as to whether to bring Kurt Angle back as a babyface or not. Last I heard, they were leaning towards bringing him back as a face. After the excellent video they did on him last night, I don't see how they can bring him back as anything but a face. (Credit: 1wrestling)
