UPDATE ON NOWINSKI, BIG SHOW COMMENTS ON CONDITIONING, STACY TALKS MARRIAGE
by Steven Fernandes

Byte This - October 20, 2004
Hosts: Josh Matthews and Mark Lloyd.
Scheduled Guests: Stacy Keibler, Big Show, Chris Nowinski

Shows starts with Lloyd flying solo as Josh is out filming stuff. Lloyd hypes up the appearance of Chris Nowinski. We will get an update on his condition and his thoughts on the new Tough Enough. Also, Big Show, and Stacy Keibler will join the show.

Lloyd preview Smackdown. Chavo Guerrero returns. Also Heidenreich's first match and six man tag match (JBL/Rene/Kenzo vs. Booker/RVD/Rey).

Next, Lloyd read outs the finalists of Tough Enough which you can find on WWE.com or PWinsider.com

Next up, talk about Fantasy WWE. For this week, Shelton Benjamin has 68 points (he is worth 2.75 million), Edge 69 points and Gene Snitsky 61 points (worth 1 million)

Lloyd puts over Taboo Tuesday and how the fans influenced the show.

(Break)

After the break, Josh joins the show. He says he had a meeting with Vince. Lloyd says "Vince McMahon?" to which Josh says "Oh no, Vince from the carwash down the street."

Droz joins the show... but they have technical difficulties and can't get through.

Josh puts over Taboo Tuesday saying the fans determined a new IC champion. He says Benjamin should go to every fan's house and let them hold the championship for a while.

Also they bring up New Tag team champions in Benoit and Edge

Droz finally joins the show.

Lloyd called Josh a veteran, so Josh asked Droz if he thinks so himself, to which Droz replied "umm...okay. If that's what you like."

His thoughts on Taboo Tuesday. He liked it. Thinks there will be more PPV's like this. Gets the fans more excited and also adds excitement to the workers because they don't know what they will be doing.

Anything shocked him from the show? Shocked to see HBK do what he did in the condition he was. Also, shocked at how Snitsky beat Kane.

Talk about tomorrow's Smackdown main event. Droz says each of them have different styles bringing up size, power, and quickness. He likes those kinds of matches.

His thoughts on Chavo's return. Basically he is getting back on the horse. He will be on edge at the beginning, but it will be back to normal after a while. It's great to see him back on Smackdown. He has a lot of attitude and adds excitement to the show.

Droz leaves the show.

Josh mentions it's been 55 days since Chavo was out and then mentions the attack on John Cena and how you can go to WWE.com to send get well wishes to John Cena.

Footage shown from Tough Enough 1 featuring Nowinski and Snow and the rest of the gang at Harvard.

Chris Nowinski joins the show.

How is he feeling? He's had a great week. He's been involved with the 'Smackdown your vote' campaign. He just got back from the 'Rock your vote' five day bus tour visiting colleges and getting the word out. Monday, he and Mark Henry spoke to students at Sacred Heart University. They were in Miami before that hosting the Foley vs. JBL debate. Lloyd said he agreed with JBL's views to which Josh said no one cares about Lloyd's political views. Nowinski puts over his columns on Smackdownyourvote.com. Says the young people have no voice in politics and they can do something about it by voting.

Thoughts on Tough Enough 4? He is excited. He remembers himself and Josh fighting on the first Tough Enough for something less than a million dollars. Says he feels bad for the guys taking part because they are going to get the snot beaten out of them. He's been noticing a trend going on that at each TE series they keep trying make it harder and harder. He says the first Tough Enough was difficult because they didn't know what to expect, but now they know that they'll be obstacle courses etc. He's interested to know how long they last.

Thoughts on Training with Al Snow? He brings wealth of wisdom and a beating everyday. He would sit with you after you work hard and tell you about the business, but only after you proved to him that you were worth it. These guys can expect nothing but beatings the first few weeks and after they have proven themselves, Al will probably tell them the inner workings of the WWE.

Josh brings up how the fans decide who will be the next Tough Enough champion. He mentions that if the fans voted on the first one, Nowinski would be the first one eliminated. NOwinski says he thought Josh was going to say that he would be the one to win. Doesn't think they should have voted then. Doesn't know why the fans turned on him in Tough Enough, bringing up an incident in the Bahamas that could have triggered that.

Caller... no one on the line.

When will he be back in the ring? Doctors have told him after he gets through a few months without having any symptoms, they can discuss wrestling. Otherwise, he would be setting himself up for disaster. Right now, he's gone a week without having any headaches. He's still on medication so he hopes to get off that as well.

Is he still writing a book? Yes, he is. He will be writing about preventing non-catastrophic injuries in sports. He will be trying to get word out on his concussions and how kids his age are not properly taken care of. He's been trying to make something good out of his situation.

Try with the first caller again... No luck again. Nowinski jokes that he will go all the way to Canada to find this girl (caller). Josh says he cant take the SYV campaign to Canada because they have no say in what happens in the elections to which both Nowinski and Lloyd pick on him and thank him for his insight.

Nowinski leaves the show.

(break.)

Ad for Tough Enough 4.

Footage shown from Smackdown last week featuring Team Angle 2 trying to cut Eddie's hair and Big Show making the save.

Big Show joins the show

What's the deal with Him and Eddie? Is there an alliance? They have a common thing. Both are getting sick of Kurt Angle and both have fun together. Puts over Eddie as being a fun guy.

Lloyd brings up how Angle said he wasn't 100 percent at No Mercy. Big Show said there are always people who make excuses and people who accept what happens. He's glad Kurt came up with an excuse. Mentions how Kurt won Olympic gold with a "broken frickin' neck" and if he could beat Kurt at 70%, then he thinks he still did something.

He'll give Angle, and anyone else for that matter, a rematch.

What's it like to be shot with a tranquilizer gun? First, a stinging sensation like you've been stung by a giant bee, and then like the Pink Floyd song, you just become comfortably numb.

Lloyd brings up his condition and what great condition he is. He's been doing a lot of things. He doesn't think he looks the way he wants to look. His knees were bad, and he had two herniated disks in his back and he still was working. It was tough to stand and walk to the ring. This is the first time in his career that he got into weight training and going to the gym.

Doesn't think he is in the best shape of his life right now. When he was playing basketball, he was skinny at 330 pounds and he was in good shape. This is another physique, another physical shape he is going for. He just wants to tighten everything down right now, mentioning his stomach as an example.

Josh wants to clarify that he said he was skinny at 330 lbs. He says yes. Compared to how he is now, back then he looked like he was sick and needed to be fed.

Lloyd mentions it's scary looking how well he moves around in the ring now and how it would look if he got in better physical shape. Show mentions he is 470 lbs right now and would like to get to about 420-430 and prolong his career. Also hopes to be injury-free. Says that first step out of bed to go to the bathroom used to be a nightmare, but now he can run to the bathroom if he has to.

Caller... bad line, sounded faint. Two part question. Is he going to do any more commercials? But none of the hosts or Big Show could hear it so they ignored that. Second part - What was it like working with Big Boss Man? Puts over Big Boss Man. He was a real gentleman, great guy, great husband, was good to him even though he wasn't suppose to be. Show puts over the feud they had saying it was a lot of fun. Show mentions how he tossed Boss Man over his head once, and weeks later they joked about it and Boss Man said "good lord almighty! I can't believe you did that. You must have eaten your Wheaties." Show says Ray was the sweetest person, and was honored to work with him.

Thoughts on Mark Jindrak and Luther Reigns. Show sees a lot of potential in Reigns. He a physical, rugged guy got a shady past. Still green behind the ears but stays dedicated and works hard. He could be an impact player. Jindrak is a heck of an athlete. Pretty to look at. He himself will tell you how pretty he is. They are both getting a rub from Kurt Angle. He puts over Kurt Angle as well mentioning how dedicated and he knows his in-ring ability and how to apply his strengths. Says they can learn a lot of him. He says Kurt doesn't go out of his limits, doesn't do things he wouldn't be able to do.

What next for Big Show? Looking forward to Survivor Series and putting together a team competing for Smackdown. (hmmm probably hinting at a RAW vs. Smackdown match, but I could be wrong). Got other stuff going on. Mentions being on Star Trek Enterprise October 29th and also looking at some other scripts and maybe do some films. He could use a big fat paycheque.

Big Show leaves the show.

Footage shown of WWE getting the Make a wish foundation award.

Footage shown of Molly vs. Stacy from RAW a few weeks ago.

Back from break and Lloyd brings up on the instant messaging, there are IM's from 10 different people asking if Stacy will marry them.

Stacy Keibler joins the show, and Josh brings up those IM's

Stacy says let there be a contest and have all those people show what they are willing to do to marry her and the person with the best deal will be the winner and Stacy will decide if she wants to marry him.

Thoughts on Taboo Tuesday? She was really happy that fans chose school girls outfit. Josh brings up her being no stranger to school girl outfits seeing how she used to wear one in WCW and also in WWE. Lloyd wants to know what Molly was wearing. She looked like a principal. Stacy says that what she probably wore when she went to school.

Thoughts on Molly? Thinks she is a great wrestler but she outsmarted her a few times. Lloyd thinks that Stacy has picked it up in the ring lately doing some moves and becoming a great wrestler (umm okay...) She says she is having a great time and having fun learning.

Why doesn't she get along with Trish? Could it be jealously? Could Trish be jealous that Stacy won Babe of the Year 2004? Stacy thinks that probably it. She mentions how Trish always brings up how she is 3-time BOTY.

Thoughts on being 2004 BOTY and finally beating Trish. She was excited to find out. She found out after getting back from the Divas shoot in Cancun. Her mom told her about it. Mentions there will be a BOTY photo shoot and other stuff. The fans will be able to vote on what photo shoots they want to see and what outfits they want her to wear.

Elaborate more on the Divas shoot in Cancun? They were supposed to go to Dominican Republic but because of the hurricanes, they detoured to Cancun. She puts over all the divas on the photo shoot. She wasn't there when Christy and Carmella were doing their photo shoot so don't know how they turned out.

Thoughts on C'n'C? "well, (pause) I saw their match last night." Lloyd thought it was a great match (okay if I didn't hate him already, I do now) and Josh agrees too. Stacy agrees too, but sounds unconvincing. She asks them if they liked it. Josh says that she doesn't look like she liked it. Stacy replies "I...I.... It was entertaining, I guess." Stacy says she gave them a little credit for not breaking their ankles because they forgot to take their shoes off. Both Josh and Lloyd say they missed that part because they weren't looking at that.

Josh brings up the Make-a-wish foundation award. She's been volunteering with MAW for a long time now because her friend from high school passed away from leukemia just before her wish could come true. It was great being at the ceremony because it was a way to give back to the people who have donated to the foundation. She was amazed and the other sponsors were too of how many of the kids wishes were that they meet WWE superstars.

What else in store for Stacy? The babe of the year photo shoots. There's always something with the troops going on. She speculates that Smackdown might be going back to Iraq.

Stacy leaves the show.

Lloyd asks Josh about his thoughts on the new Tough Enough. Josh says he is excited about it, and about meeting the finalists.

More hype for Smackdown tomorrow.

Show ends with footage of Carlito vs. Rey from Smackdown last week.

WWE HOUSE SHOW REPORT

10/18 SMACKDOWN BRAND RESULTS FROM MINNEAPOLIS, MN
by Stan Nerhaugen
Chavo Guerrero gets revenge on Billy Kidman (sans ridiculous robe) with his inverted powerbomb. Not too much cruiserweight flying, but boy did the shooting star press get a lot of heat!!

Luther Reigns/Mark Jindrak over FBI. Not much to say, fairly standard.

Hardcore Holly beats Orlando Jordan with a rollup. A better match that it would appear, Orlando is definitely starting to improve and Holly actually got a decent face reaction throughout the match.

Dudley Brothers w/Dawn Marie vs Kenzo Suzuki/Rene Dupree vs Rey Mysterio/RVD (hereafter known as Team Flippy-Spinny) in an elimination title match. An early highlight match! Great work playing the crowd by all 3 teams early, and, with one exception, great ring work by all teams. That one exception, Suzuki, who may be the first man to blow every spot in a match. He even blew 4 attempts to be clotheslined over the top rope, in a row! Team Flippy/Spinny eliminates the Dudleys, and is then beaten after some skullduggery by the heels. Very enjoyable work by the two senior teams, who did 80% of the match, including some innovative double team moves by Flippy/Spinny which makes me want to see them team again. Frog splash and 619 after the bell.

Funaki vs Spike vs Shannon Moore in a three way Cruiserweight title match. You'd have to see what Shannon Moore wore to believe it. The metallic spandex bell-bottoms he's worn before, a spikey, Road Warrior-ish top, and a thin, spikey Mohawk. Decent match, with a well told story of the two faces agreeing to team up on Spike, taking turns betraying each other, and Spike getting a roll up on Funaki.

Taker beats Heidenreich. Huge pop for Taker's house show entrance even! Taker carries Heidenreich to a bearable match, and gets the win. More on this later.

Big Show over Kurt Angle w/Luther. Comedic start with Big Show placing the ref on the top turnbuckle after stopping him from going right after Kurt, followed by a battle of wills between Show and the heels to see how long the ref would stay sitting on top. Good match, didn't get any suplexes, but Kurt did a great counter into the Ankle Lock at one point.

Carlito Cool vs Eddie Guerrero in an Intercontinental Title match. Eddie over huge, and Carlito drawing a lot of heel heat. Carlito held his own again, looks very good for his age. Cool gets the win after the ref, after a bump, catches Eddie cheating with a chairshot. Frog splash after the bell.

The main event for the house show here last night was supposed to be Booker T versus JBL. JBL came out, did a fairly good heel run down on the crowd (except he chose to use the 4-1 Vikings as the local sports team to make fun of, instead of the Twins who just lost the Yankees; most likely just so he could do the Culpepper arm roll all night), and then announced that Booker T was not there. After some antics, Teddy Long came out and announced that JBL would have to wrestle against the Undertaker.

We were disappointed that we wouldn't see Booker, but you have to give a lot of respect to Taker, wrestling 2 full length matches, against two wrestlers that he needed to make better, and then even take a Heidenreich post-match beat down. At a house show. Not a big crowd, but he was given a standing ovation after the second match. Don't know why Booker T wasn't there, but Undertaker made up for it, and gained a lot of respect for doing so. Next Page >>
